CLUB PICNIC -  RSVP by Monday Sept. 8th to Karen Price: kprice@skanschools.org.   Bring your spouse or special friend, just include their name on your RSVP.  We also ask each Rotarian to bring an appetizer. Dessert will be provided.
IMPORTANT MEETING SEPT. 18:  by Doug .... All Rotarians are strongly encouraged to attend the club’s regular Thursday meeting,  Sept 18, at the Sherwood. The program  will be the Annual Meeting of the Skaneateles Rotary Foundation (SRF) which all of us are members. This important Annual Meeting will include: 1) a review of the history and purpose of the SRF, 2) the election of two new SRF board members (nominees: Roberta Williams and John Moran), 3) a review of SRF finances for the 2013/14 fiscal year including a recap of “worthy cause” disbursements and, 4) an introduction to the SRF Endowment Fund which the  Club has agreed to establish in lieu of conducting an additional annual fund raiser. A strong showing of attendance at this meeting is needed to establish a quorum and especially given the importance to the club membership of the topics to be presented and discussed.
LAST WEEK  .... by Bill Conole ...
Boys State -. Packy Taylor - Packy Taylor, representing the American Legion, introduced Skaneateles’s Boys States attendees, James Hackler & Zachery Schneider. Jim & Zach spoke early in the meeting because both boys are starters on the Skaneateles Football Team & had to go to a 7:30pm practice. Packy gave a brief history of Boys State & it’s mission & then introduced Zach & James. Both Zach & Jim talked about the rigors & joys of Boys State. During the hectic Boys State week both boys excelled in their areas of expertise. Zach helped his teams win 3 major Boys States Championships. James achieved a major position in the Boys State press corps. James & Zach were exceptionally poised for their ages. Rotary has contributed to the Skaneateles American Legion sponsor Boys State Candidates for several years. By their presentations & through their many achievements Zach & James validate the tremendous value of the Boy’s State Program.----President Cheryl thanked Packy Taylor for his many years of working with the Legion & Boys State. Packy is giving Rotary cups to James & Zach.----Chryle congratulated Ward receiving the RLI Exceptional Service Award. Cheryl noted that Ward is a most worthy recipient for this highly prestigious award.
50/50—was won by Bill Blessing
