LAST WEEK.... by Cheryl Silvestrini
Alan Thornton, Chief Executive Officer of the Rescue Mission, spoke about the various services provided by the Rescue Mission. He also shared some success stories of the clients they serve. Under Alan’s leadership, the Rescue Mission provides services in Syracuse, Auburn, Binghamton, and Ithaca. Alan explained that the Syracuse Rescue Mission is one of the oldest. Their campus has an emergency shelter, a day center, serves 3 meals a day, and on any given night there are over 250 men sleeping under their roof. Alan has dedicated his career to serving the most vulnerable members of our community, and continuously strives to share hope, end hunger and homelessness, change lives, and strengthen communities – one person at a time. Alan welcomes volunteers, and offered to give tours of the Syracuse Rescue Mission to our members.
Guests - Katharina Gunther and her host family, Jerry, Alice, and Allison Purdy, joined us for dinner. Katharina gave our Club a Rotary banner from Austria.
50/50 - Jack Hyatt won the 50/50 raffle and gave his winnings to Katharina and Allison for their upcoming trip out west. Thanks, Jack!
Danny Roche - Our thoughts are with Danny Roche who had a fall and underwent hip replacement surgery. If you’d like to send a card or note to Danny, you can send it to his home address. We wish him a speedy recovery!

The program will be the Annual Meeting of the Skaneateles Rotary Foundation (SRF) which all of us are members. This important Annual Meeting will include: 1) a review of the history and purpose of the SRF, 2) the election of two new SRF board members (nominees: Roberta Williams and John Moran), 3) a review of SRF finances for the 2013/14 fiscal year including a recap of “worthy cause” disbursements and, 4) an introduction to the SRF Endowment Fund which the Club has agreed to establish in lieu of conducting an additional annual fund raiser.
